Executive summary
Deal volume increased for the fifth year running, reaching a total of 1,392 in 2018, with total deal value also a record standing at $304bn, or $85.6bn on an adjusted basis to exclude this year’s four mega-deals, the 2018 total deal value surpassed the previously record high of $82.6bn reached in 2016, representing a 24.5% increase over 2017 levels.
